I’ve been at this music writing camp in Norway called Music Expo, organised by TONO and EKKO Music in Trondheim. For several days I’ve been collaborating with different artists into writing songs together. One night, I was on the top of the hotel after a long session and as I was staying there I just pictured the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen. I’ve posted it on facebook at around 00:20 with the caption “Midnight in Norway” and after reading the caption for several times, I’ve realised that this is the title of what needs to be a track.
I came up with the chorus of the track in the elevator on my way to the room and sent it to my team that I was working the next day and I’ve told them that we need to make this track. Ameline was part of my team as writer and she was the right person to sing it. The way her voice expressed all the feelings that I had that moment was so on point that I actually decided that I should make the track together with her. No one could replicate what we’ve felt that day in the session and the way the track was recorded.
The whole track has been recorded, wrote and produced in exactly 14 hours from the moment we started to build it up. All other details were finished as I got home and I’ve mixed it and mastered it and more than 12 extra hours were spent on doing that. All recording takes are the one we’ve did for the first time and they sticked like that in the final version of the track, including the guitars. Everything you’re going to listen is made on that day, that next day after I’ve seen the beautiful sunset at midnight in Norway.
