Who inspired you to make music?
Monoir : I guess people, places, experiences. And if we talk about persons, I guess I’m mostly inspired by Max Martin, one of my biggest idols.
Kate : My grandma actually haha. She took me to singing lessons when i was a kid and it kinda stuck.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Kate : I can describe it as being totally me. Every song I ever put out is 100% something that I really feel represents me. Also I think it’s kind of a nice way to see how I evolve as an artist along the way.
Monoir : Dance-Oriental flavoured tracks. I love infusing oriental vibes with modern sounds. But that doesn’t limit my creativity to only that. I basically love to create everything that’s music. Could be Hip-Hop, Trap, Deep-House, anything.
What is your favourite song to perform?
Monoir : I guess my favourite song to perform as an artist still remains Zaynah from the period of Chris Thrace. That was my best feeling, being on the stage performing in front of people, hearing them singing the chorus with me and Kate.
Kate : “Zaynah” no doubt. I get such an amazing feeling when I hear everyone sing along to the chorus with me! It is a feeling I can’t describe, it’s what making music is all about.
What is the most useless talent you have?
Kate : Hmm, probably that I can sleep 24/7. It kinda messes with my productivity haha.
Monoir : Overclocking PC’s, Washing the car perfectly.. things like this.
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
Monoir : I usually don’t sing in the shower. I rather create in the shower or when I’m on the toilet. I have my phone with me and record toplines in the most unappropriate moments. Ops.
Kate : Ohhh yes!! Mostly classical music because I love the echo. But also old school jams like “Ups!.. I did it again”by Britney Spears.
What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
Kate : I can only remember the times I didn’t hear the alarm in the morning and decided to skip school for the entire day. Sorry mom.
Monoir : Haven’t really go into troubles that much.. I guess I’m way to chill for this world.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Monoir : To stay focused, live in the present, meditate, relax. Things I rarely am able to do but I’m working on it.
Kate : Don’t let people waste your time or energy. And I apply it when I sometimes receive hate or mean comments online.
What is the story behind Durum?
Monoir : I was in Brasov drinking my coffee and I was thinking about a song that could be hummed with dum dum.. Then It came in my mind the tasty DURUM from Turkey that I really love. So I recorded on my phone the chorus of the track with Durum. Dum Dum… Durum Dum.. Durum dum. You get it 🙂
Kate : Chris showed me a chorus he recorded on the phone and I immediately told him “I NEED DURUM IN MY LIFE” haha. Wrote the lyrics and here we are.
What is your most favorite part of Durum?
Kate : I love it all! BUT Durum, dum.. durum, dum.. HAHA
Monoir :The Durum.. right? Is the tastiest 🙂 I’m kidding. I love it all. From the top to the bottom. Extra sauce with it please!
What is one message you would give to your fans?
Monoir : Keep being loyal and close to things that you love, and if I’m one of those things, you can be sure that you’re close to my heart and I’ll never dissapoint any of you. Love you all for being here in our journey with the music!
Kate : I. LOVE. YOU. Thank you for sticking with me and for believing in me as an artist. It means so much.
